Brendan Fraser’s “Brenaissance” and Oscar win have rekindled interest in the actor, even about seemingly mundane things like his hair.
It was surprising to see the actor with his hair back since he had developed a significant balding patch during the filming of the third Mummy film.
Not surprisingly, this has led to speculation about Brendan Fraser’s hair transplant.
Let’s look into it further and find out if that’s the case.
Who Is Brendan Fraser?
Brendan Fraser is a Canadian-American actor best known for his role in The Mummy movies as explorer Rick O’Connell.
Though he made his Hollywood debut in Dogfight, it was Encino Man that got Brendon’s name on the map — starring Fraser alongside Pauly Shore and Ke Huy Quan, this silly comedy is still considered a timeless classic.
In 1999, the butch-looking Fraser became the Hollywood heartthrob after The Mummy was released. He then also appeared in several other successful films such as The Quiet American, Journey To The Center of the Earth and Crash.
Although personal struggles forced him to take a break from acting in 2014, he returned to Hollywood in 2022 with Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, earning him his first Oscar.
Did Brendan Fraser Get A Hair Transplant?
Looking at Brendan Fraser’s photos, it doesn’t seem like he’s had a hair transplant.
It’s more likely that he’s using hair fibres, such as Toppik, a hairpiece or possibly a combination of both to conceal his hair loss.
His hair density appears to fluctuate quite a bit, which isn’t something you’d typically see with a hair transplant.
Brendan Fraser's Hair Loss Over The Years
Let’s how Brendan Fraser’s hair changed over time.
Year 2003
At the age of 35, Fraser’s hair appears slightly thinned or miniaturised at the front, but there are no other signs of hair loss.

Year 2006
A year before he was photographed with a large bald spot, Fraser’s hair still appeared full enough. Possibly, the actor was using fibres to hide his hair loss.
Nonetheless, looking at his photos, his hairline has an uneven appearance, and his temples also look diminished.
Year 2007
In 2007, Fraser was photographed with an extensive bald patch encompassing most of his frontal scalp and crown.
Although he hadn’t entirely lost his hair, the hair left looked to be miniaturising as well, which would have eventually left him with a bare scalp.
Even then, he appeared to be at stage 6 or 7 on the Norwood Scale.
Year 2008
Come 2008, Fraser’s bald spot had vanished, and there didn’t seem to be any sign of male pattern baldness.
However, it seems as if Brendan grew his hair longer and continued to use hair fibres instead of undergoing a hair transplant.
This is because his hair would look slightly different at different times, which is not expected from a hair transplant since its results are permanent.

Year 2010
There were times when Brendan’s scalp looked thinner, while at others, it looked fuller. The actor might have worn a hairpiece to create the illusion of density.

Year 2016
At 48, Fraser’s hair again looked quite thin at the top, and the edges of his hairline had further receded. He might still have been using hair fibres, though.
Year 2022
Around this time, The Whale’s star hair was so thin that his scalp could be seen through it.
Year 2023
When Brendan received his first Academy Award, he again showed no signs of hair loss, which might have been the result of a hairpiece and/or hair fibres.
