Harry Styles Hair Transplant: An In-Depth Analysis

One Directioner turned solo sensation Harry Styles is much adored by fans for his charisma, cheek and, of course, his raspy singing voice. Among this list are also his curly locks, which not-so-surprisingly caused quite a stir when he debuted a completely shaved head at the end of 2023.

Despite some suspecting Harry’s buzzcut was a fashion choice or a preparation for an upcoming role, others were convinced the singer had finally decided to get a hair transplant. But was Harry Styles’ hair transplant just a rumour? Let’s find out.

Who is Harry Styles?

A former member of the boyband One Direction, Harry Styles is a British singer and actor who has starred in films such as My Policeman and Don’t Worry Darling.

Throughout his career, the Worcestershire native has received numerous accolades, including multiple Grammys and Brit Awards. As well, he received National Film Awards nominations for his performance in the World War II epic Dunkirk.

Currently, the singer is believed to be working on his fourth album

Has Harry Styles Had A Hair Transplant?

Harry Styles has never mentioned having a hair transplant, and from the singer’s photos, he doesn’t appear to have had the procedure, at least, as of yet.

In 2022, the celebrity gossip account Duexmoi posted a blind item about an “A list musician/occasional actor” being “almost completely bald” and wearing a hairpiece.

This post, in turn, sparked intense speculation that the singer in question was Harry Styles, though the Watermelon Sugar singer simply “laughed it off” in an interview with Rolling Stone and said the following:

“What is it with baldness? … It skips a generation or something, right? If your grandad’s bald then you’ll be bald? Well, my granddad wasn’t bald, so fingers crossed.”

Taking a closer look at Styles’ hairline, it also does not appear he wore a hairpiece in an attempt to conceal his hair loss. If that were the case, the receding edges of his hairline would have been less conspicuous.

Harry Styles’ Hair Loss Over the Years

Here’s a closer look at Harry’s hairline evolution.

Year 2013

Aged 19 and already a teen heartthrob, Styles had very full, curly hair with a fairly straight hairline.

Year 2014

Still not showing any sign of hair loss, but he has a noticeable widow’s peak from a very early age — quite probably a genetic trait.

Year 2017

At the age of 23, the only thing different about Harry’s hair was the shorter cut.

Year 2021

By his late 20s, Harry’s hairline had a very distinct widow’s peak, and the corners of his hairline also appeared further drawn back.

Year 2023

Except for the switch in Harry’s hairstyle that year, there wasn’t much to notice in the singer’s hairline.

Year 2024

The corners of Harry’s hairline were still quite high, and his widow’s peak was still present and looked the same.

Is Harry Styles Going Bald?

As can be seen from the fullness at the front and top of Harry’s scalp, he does not seem to be losing hair or going bald.

Though his hairline looks different now than it used to, it’s probably because he now has a “mature hairline” as a result of natural ageing.

Other than that, however, Harry has also been known to wear the occasional “man bun” or top knot. Such a hairstyle can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia, which could have caused a slight recession of his hairline.

Reactions To Harry Styles’ Hair

The internet was divided on what Harry might’ve done to his hair. Here’s what some Redditors had to say:

“He either got a transplant or is wearing a system, and judging from the photos it looks like a system. His hairline was receding really bad from an early age, I'm sure it got to a point where he felt like he had to do something and a transplant may not have been recommended because he is still in the process of balding.”

“He did say on Kimmel about seven years ago when Jimmy asked, OK who is the first one who is going to get bald and he held up his little sign and raised his hand. He had huge rescission at 20 years of age. So you can imagine eight years later that it’s probably gotten very thin. I’m sure he’s going to get hair transplant but I think sometimes he does put some sort of piece on the top that would cover the sides. I don’t think he wears a full wig. Absolutely not. It’s just a lot thicker when he performs and it’s got to be some sort of hairpiece. Maybe like hair extensions??”

“i think it’s for a movie role idk, people are screaming and throwing up about it but really it doesn’t look horrible at all. maybe he just genuinely wanted to shave his head”

“Anytime a famous man does this out of the blue I assume they are getting a hair transplant. Same with david beckham recently. I don't think most people realize how common they are.”
